App Guide

A database with a large amount of information about the behaviour of several pumps operating in turbine mode has been collected during the REDAWN project.

RPS is an app that allows you to visualize download this information, for future uses related to research and engineering applications.

As you open the app, this screen appears to you. You can select to visualize either the pump or the turbine curves.

As you select either “Pump curves” or “Turbine curves”, a new window opens (as shown below for the turbine mode), with a head-discharge plot (hill chart) with all the available curves and the corresponding reference names. You can use the tool to zoom the plot. Due to authorization issues, the commercial names of the machines are hidden: if you are interested in more information, please contact us.

By clicking either on a curve or on a name, a new windows opens, with the data of the chosen machine. You can also export a .txt file with all the available information of the selected machine, including – among the others –the results of the experimental tests both in pump and turbine mode.

In some cases, when you see the dashed line, as appears below, the corresponding curve is calculated, rather than obtained by experimental measurements.

The power that is showed in the plots is generally the mechanical power that the turbine transfers to (or the pump requires at) the machine shaft. But, for some machines, the electrical motor or generator power is showed: in those cases a red warning is present, as shown below.
